$50,000 World Slots Championship
Queen of the finger-tapping slots players in this year’s $50,000 World Slots Championship was Rose L of Florida. Rose reeled in the big prize - $26,500.
On March 13 and 14, 2006, 44 slots enthusiasts took part in the $50,000 World Slots Championship event on board the PartyPoker.com Million V Cruise.
Two five-minute qualifying rounds on Monday narrowed the field. With the machines on free-play, the players pounded the ‘Max Bet’ button to get in as many spins as possible in the allotted time.
The top 15 point scorers and three wild card entrants went through to the semi-final round on Tuesday morning. These semi-finalists pounded the machines for an intense 10-ten minute session. The sound was deafening as the players battled it out for a top-five slot in the finals.

In the afternoon, the top five semi-finalists and one wild card hunkered down for the grand finale. Each player was surrounded by a vocal group of supporters, cheering wildly. Some players kicked back their chairs and stood at the slots in the heat of the excitement.
Rose L catapulted herself into the lead with a last- minute jackpot. Her total point count stood at a massive 7,504 points, enough to take the crown as the undisputed queen of the $50,000 World Slots Championships, 2006.
Sandra T.N from Texas claimed the second-place prize of $10,500 with 4,184 points. Surprisingly, she finished last of the bunch in the qualifying round, advancing to the final through the unique wild card drawing.
In third was a direct buy-in, Michele L, who claimed $6,500 with 3,430 points. Shawn I from Minnesota was close behind, taking fourth place and $4,250 with 3,066 points. In fifth place, securing a $3,000 prize was Mary W from Missouri with 3,034 points (just 32 points short of the next level). The final prize winner was Michael K from Louisiana, winning $2,250 for his 2,688 point effort.
